Learning objectives

The learning objectives mainly consists of two parts: the technical part and the soft-skill part.
The technical objective would be to get familiar with the whole process of how “spatial services” is proposed, produced and delivered. Taking population monitoring service for MSF which is the main task I was involved during the internship as an example, it is important to get to know more about the whole workflow of population monitoring as well as the implementation details during the work. Moreover, this is also a perfect chance to put what we have learned from class into practice.
To improve our soft-skills is equally import as a learning objective since we’re all human being and we all have to live in a certain society, in which socializing skills plays an essential role. It will be life-time treasure to us to try to improve our soft skills such as being open to feedback, communicating often, being adapted to teamwork, observing others, building positive relationships with others, etc.

Overall experience

The overall experience of working at Spatial Services was absolutely enjoyable.
First of all, it is located at Techno-Z, which is the same building as our faculty, so there will be plenty of chances to socialize with not only our co-workers, but also our colleagues and professors from Z-GIS, which can be beneficial to your future research plan or career life. Secondly, I was offered very detailed guidance at the beginning of the internship. As a result, I didn’t have any hard time or “confused stage” while getting familiar with the work. Last but not the least, all the co-workers at Spatial Services are very nice persons and also very diverse in terms of their origins. It is always my favorite moment of the day to have some intercultural talks with them while enjoying different food during lunch break.
To conclude, this position is highly recommended for future interns :)
